Château de Lébéron - Armagnac Ténarèze - Barrel Proof - Vintage 1998 - 48.3%
The Château de Lébéron is located in Cassaigne, at the heart of the prestigious Armagnac appellation in Gers, a region renowned for its ancestral expertise in distillation and aging. Since 1939, when Osmin Rozès acquired the estate, significant renovations have been undertaken to enhance this exceptional terroir. Today, the fourth generation, embodied by Caroline Rozès, continues this family tradition with passion and rigor. Château de Lébéron spans over 50 hectares of vineyards cultivated with the utmost respect for the environment and biodiversity, applying sustainable agricultural methods and practices that respect local ecosystems.
The house's emblematic grape varieties are Ugni Blanc, Colombard, and Baco, planted on vines averaging 40 years old, some even exceeding 60 years, thus guaranteeing unparalleled quality and aromatic depth. Distillation is carried out in a traditional Armagnac still, known as "continuous heating," a key element ensuring the finesse and authenticity of the eaux-de-vie. Aging takes place directly within the castle walls, whose unique thickness creates an ideal microclimate: stable humidity and temperature throughout the year, optimal conditions for slow, harmonious, and complex aging of Armagnacs.
Château de Lébéron also manages a perpetual Solera reserve initiated in 2001, a rare technique that imparts exceptional aromatic richness and roundness to the Armagnacs. Each cuvée is vintage dated, barrel proof, and comes from a single barrel, guaranteeing a pure and authentic expression of each harvest year. Bottling is done exclusively on order, ensuring freshness and rarity.
The 1998 vintage is a carefully balanced blend of 65% Ugni Blanc and 35% Colombard. That year, an exceptionally hot summer favored optimal grape maturity, giving this Armagnac rich, powerful, and intense notes, with remarkable aromatic depth that will delight lovers of exceptional eaux-de-vie.
