Domaine de Charron - Vintage 2000 - Bas Armagnac - 50.1%
The Domaine de Charron is located in Perquie, the heart of the Landes, a region renowned for the exceptional quality of its Armagnacs. Founded at the beginning of the 20th century, this prestigious estate has Baco vines carefully planted by the great-grandmother of Jacques and Claude Lartigue, true guardians of this viticultural heritage. Facing the threat of uprooting in 1985, they bravely saved these vines, thus launching an artisanal and authentic production of Armagnac. In 2015, upon Jacques' retirement, his son-in-law Jean-Philippe took over the estate and initiated a rigorous modernization, combining tradition and innovation to guarantee an exceptional product.
The vines, aged between 35 and 65 years, reflect the meticulous dedication given to each vine stock. Their small area of 2 hectares allows for personalized and intensive care. The estate favors natural grass cover, promoting biodiversity and the microbiological richness of the soils, essential for the authentic expression of the terroir. Vinification is carried out entirely naturally, without any addition of oenological products, to obtain a balanced, low-alcohol, and acidic must, perfectly suited for optimal distillation.
Since 1985, distillation has been carried out on-site with a mobile still, but since 2012, Domaine de Charron has had its own still dating from 1940, ensuring total control over the quality and stages of the process. Aging is done exclusively in new barrels, made by one of the last coopers in the region, Gilles Bartholomo, based in Le Frêche in the Landes, thus ensuring perfect maturation and refinement rich in complex aromas. Each Armagnac is bottled directly at the cellar after a minimum aging of 10 years, for optimal expression of the Landes terroir.
Vintage 2000: an excellent vintage for Armagnac, recognized for its finesse, depth, and balance, making this cuvée an essential reference for enthusiasts and collectors.
