Domaine Chiroulet - Armagnac - Vintage 1986 - 42.5%
The Domaine Chiroulet is located in the heart of Gers, a region emblematic of Armagnac terroirs in Gascony, worldwide renowned for the quality of its traditional eaux-de-vie. Founded in 1893, the estate initially covered 5 hectares dedicated to mixed farming and livestock. Alban Sourbès, a passionate winemaker and distiller, endured the difficult years of phylloxera before leading the estate until 1935. The property was then passed on to his niece Suzanne Capmartin, while her husband, Albert Fezas, developed an ambitious expansion project, unfortunately interrupted by the Second World War. Today, it is his grandson and current owner, Philippe Fezas, who has diversified and modernized the activities while respecting ancestral traditions. Currently converting to organic farming, Domaine Chiroulet asserts a strong commitment to environmental preservation and local biodiversity. Its innovative approach includes an agroforestry project beneficial to the vineyard ecosystem: this sustainable system allows the reintroduction and valorization of biomass within the plots, natural regulation of crop auxiliaries, as well as improvement of the surrounding microclimate. This responsible and holistic management makes Domaine Chiroulet an exemplary player in the production of exceptional Armagnac.
This exceptional Armagnac is made from the noble Ugni Blanc grape variety, distilled in 1986 according to the traditional Armagnac method with a continuous still. Its aging takes place in 400-liter oak barrels, made from wood sourced from century-old trees carefully selected within the estate itself. This slow and natural maturation gives this Armagnac a unique aromatic richness, blending finesse, roundness, and complexity, appreciated by connoisseurs and lovers of authentic spirits.
