ARMAGNAC DELORD - La Blanche d'Armagnac - 42%
The prestigious history of Armagnac Delord began in 1893. Prosper, a traveling distiller and passionate cellar master, traveled to farms with his artisanal still to transform white wine into an exceptional Armagnac. It was his sons, Gaston and Georges, who founded the renowned Armagnac Delord Frères house in Lannepax, the heart of the Gers. As committed producers, distillers, and merchants, they succeeded in exporting their Bas-Armagnacs from Gascony to the United States, spreading their expertise internationally. In 1963, Jacques, Gaston's son, continued this family adventure and, ten years later, joined by his brother Pierre, he continued to raise the quality. Since 2001, Sylvain and Jérôme, heirs of the tradition, represent the new generation of the establishment: one dedicates himself to production, tasting, and blending of the eaux-de-vie while the other promotes and enhances the brand with passion and expertise.
The excellent vineyard, covering 42 hectares, is carefully divided into 11 distinct plots, including the four traditional Armagnac grape varieties: Ugni Blanc, Colombard, Baco, and Folle Blanche. Each grape variety is harvested, pressed, and vinified separately with rigor in the winemaking cellar, ensuring optimal quality. Delord is among the few Armagnac houses to perfectly master both ancestral distillation methods: continuous distillation, emblematic of Armagnac, and double distillation, rarer and more refined. The cellars house more than 1,000 oak barrels as well as a dozen large vats, where the eaux-de-vie mature slowly and are enhanced over decades, with casks dating from the 20th century to today. The oldest vintages are carefully preserved in demijohns, protected from light, in a dedicated space called Paradise, symbolizing the extreme care given to quality.
The Blanche d'Armagnac is made from the same exceptional terroir as traditional Armagnac but stands out by its clear appearance and unique aromatic profile. Its nose reveals a flattering intensity blending delicate aromas of fresh grape, lively citrus, juicy pear, and crunchy green almond. On the palate, the attack is round, silky, and generous, with a rich texture that immediately charms. Fruity notes of citrus and pear elegantly persist on the finish, offering a refined and unforgettable tasting experience.
