Armagnac Laterrade - Bas-Armagnac - 1994 - Domaine de Marquet - Brut de Fût - 41.4%
Laterrade is an iconic brand of independent bottling renowned for its unique expertise in the world of Armagnac. Vincent Laterrade, originally from Vic-Fezensac, in the heart of the famous Ténarèze region in Armagnac, has combined passion and know-how. A seasoned former sommelier, he first traveled the terroirs and discovered exceptional small local producers before partnering with two enthusiasts to create L’Encantada. This house offers vintage armagnacs from rare and still little-known estates. Thanks to his deep knowledge of the terroirs, Vincent has become a true hunter of rare armagnacs, building a carefully selected collection of exceptional bottles.
He later worked closely with the Fitte family, owners of the prestigious Château de Herrebouc in Vic-Fezensac, further strengthening his expertise in selecting exceptional casks. This fruitful collaboration allowed him to acquire precious vintages ranging from 10 to over 50 years old, while adhering to a strict philosophy: to offer only vintage armagnacs from a single estate, with no alcohol reduction, blending, or alteration.
Despite the dissolution of this partnership, Vincent patiently preserved his exclusive stocks. More recently, he convinced Stéphane de Luze to entrust him with the renovation of an abandoned barn on the Château de Briat estate to create a modern and authentic cellar. From now on, the selected casks belong exclusively to Vincent, and his exceptional spirits are marketed under the distinctive label "Laterrade".
The responsible and local approach is at the heart of his production: the spirits are made only from regional raw materials, the bottles are crafted by a recognized local glassmaker, the labels are printed on artisanal and local chiffon paper, the wax used is of French origin, and even the boxes are made from sustainably sourced French wood. This meticulous attention to detail guarantees an exceptional product, reflecting the richness and terroir of Armagnac.
This exceptional Bas-Armagnac was distilled in 1994 at Domaine de Marquet, located in Castandet, a terroir renowned for the finesse and complexity of its eaux-de-vie.
