Under the expertise of Vincent Laterrade, a passionate sommelier, each barrel is rigorously selected, combining perfect traceability with remarkable tasting quality. Faithful to the spirit of the terroir, each vintage comes exclusively from a single identified property, without any blending, to preserve the authenticity and uniqueness of each harvest. Domaine de Marquet, located in Castandet in the Landes, benefits from the unique oceanic influence and the famous tawny sands typical of Bas-Armagnac. This emblematic region is known for producing delicate, fruity Armagnacs of great finesse, capable of evolving elegantly over time. The barrel proof bottling, without coloring or addition, guarantees here a property Bas-Armagnac reflecting all the identity of the place of origin, perfectly preserved.
This unique 1994 vintage, highlighted by Clos des Spiritueux, comes exclusively from Domaine de Marquet. The eau-de-vie aged several decades in oak barrels, developing unmatched complexity thanks to the subtle interaction between the wood, the spirit, and the cellar atmosphere. This slow maturation allowed the aromas of yellow fruits and ripe citrus to be sublimated, enriched with gourmet nuances of candied fruits, refined spices, and a delicate cocoa scent. With a natural strength of 41.4% due to slow evaporation – the famous angels' share – this Bas-Armagnac offers a silky texture and rare freshness, unaltered by any reduction. The 1994 vintage fully expresses itself, blending the liveliness of the fruit with the first racé notes of rancio, for an intense and memorable tasting experience.
Visually, this Bas-Armagnac seduces with its bright amber robe, enhanced by magnificent orange and copper reflections. On the nose, the olfactory attack is deliciously complex: stewed mirabelle plum, baked apple, orange peel, highlighted by honeyed notes, vanilla, and blond tobacco. Upon aeration, subtle fragrances of fresh walnut, cocoa, cinnamon, and finely toasted wood appear. On the palate, the attack is supple, precise, supported by its natural strength, revealing flavors of stone fruits, roasted almond, and soft spices, carried by a dynamic freshness that brings balance and length. The finish, of great persistence, prolongs the pleasure with notes of candied zest, light coffee, and a refined touch of licorice. This exceptional vintage signed Clos des Spiritueux is ideal to enjoy neat in a tulip glass, or accompanied by a mirabelle tart, a walnut dessert, lightly sweetened dark chocolate, or a long-aged hard cheese, to reveal all the richness of this Bas-Armagnac 1994.
