Dartigalongue - Bas Armagnac - VSOP - 40%
The prestigious Armagnac House Dartigalongue is located in Nogaro, in the heart of the Gers, a region renowned for its exceptional terroirs. Founded in 1838 by Pascal Dartigalongue, it is one of the oldest and most respected Armagnac producers in France. In 2010, Françoise Dartigalongue, then leading the family business, convinced Benoit Hillion, an agricultural engineer by training and husband of her niece Virginie, to return to Nogaro to continue this ancestral know-how. The Dartigalongue family rigorously selects white eaux-de-vie made from white wines produced from the emblematic grape varieties Ugni Blanc, Baco, and Folle Blanche. These grapes are grown on the unique terroir of Bas-Armagnac, characterized by its silty and sandy soils, ideal for producing Armagnacs of incomparable finesse and elegance.
Distillation is carried out precisely on a column still, using a traditional low-degree continuous distillation process, ensuring optimal quality and perfect aromatic expression. The oak barrels used for aging the eau-de-vie come from local coopers, mainly favoring Gascon oak, known for its unique aromatic qualities. Aging takes place in two complementary types of cellars: dry cellars house the young eaux-de-vie before transfer to humid cellars, which play an essential role by bringing softness, roundness, and complexity to Dartigalongue Armagnacs.
Dartigalongue VSOP stands out as an exceptional Bas-Armagnac, displaying a minimum age of 4 years, a guarantee of maturity and balance. This cuvée combines aromatic richness, length on the palate, and finesse, ideal for discerning connoisseurs.
