Maison Louis Roque - La Vieille Prune - 42%
Located in Souillac, in the heart of the Lot region , Maison Louis Roque - a family distillery founded in 1905 - has been perpetuating the art of artisanal distillation for over a century. A true emblem of Southwest expertise, it stands out for its commitment to traditional methods, respect for the fruit and manual work, far removed from industrial logic.
Its famous Vieille Prune is made from very ripe plums (Ente, Mirabelle and Reine-Claude varieties), harvested in regional orchards. The fruits are carefully pitted by hand , then fermented naturally, without any additives. After fermentation, distillation is carried out slowly in copper stills in a bain-marie , according to the Charente method. The eau-de-vie is then patiently aged in oak barrels for 3 to 4 years . A precise blending of the batches ensures the regularity and balance of each bottling.
" Generous aromas of ripe plum enhanced by woody notes. On the palate, a beautiful fruity roundness opens onto a subtly spicy finish. A refined eau-de-vie, ideal as a digestif or to add an original touch to your cocktails."
