The Massenez Distillery, emblematic of Alsace, is located in Dieffenbach-au-Val. Founded in 1870 by the passionate Jean-Baptiste Massenez, a master distiller, it continues the artisanal tradition of eaux-de-vie. As early as 1913, his son Eugène Massenez innovated by distilling the precious wild raspberry for the first time. This exceptional eau-de-vie then captivated the Swedish Court, making the distillery an official supplier to the King of Sweden. Under the leadership of Gabriel Eugène, the third family generation, the distillery strengthened its international reputation by associating with haute cuisine, collaborating with starred chefs like Paul Bocuse and prestigious establishments such as La Tour d’Argent. In 1979, a new ultra-modern distillery was inaugurated to support rapid expansion. Today, the Massenez brand shines in more than 110 countries, offering a diverse range of high-quality eaux-de-vie and spirits. In 2010, the Massenez Distillery joined the Grandes Distilleries Peureux, a group renowned for its expertise. Under the direction of Bernard Baud, President of Grandes Distilleries Peureux, famous for their Griottines, the Massenez Distillery benefits from new momentum while preserving its unique DNA and traditional heritage.
An eau de vie is an exceptional product obtained by natural fermentation or alcoholic maceration of fruits, berries, roots, or nuts, followed by precise and rigorous distillation. The Fougerolles Kirsch, a noble spirit recognized and labeled AOC since 2010 in Franche-Comté, embodies this unique know-how. More than forty years after the first formal request, this appellation guarantees a product originating from a strict geographical area comprising 11 communes located between Haute-Saône and the Vosges, which hosts more than 10,000 fruit trees dedicated to cherry production. This AOC includes about a hundred members: carefully selected cherry producers, passionate master distillers, collectors, and expert distillers, all committed to preserving the quality and authenticity of Fougerolles Kirsch.
