The Massenez Distillery, located in Dieffenbach-au-Val in the heart of the authentic Alsace region, is a family-owned house founded in 1870 by master distiller Jean-Baptiste Massenez. With a century-old tradition, this exceptional distillery stands as a pillar in the world of fine and refined eaux-de-vie. As early as 1913, Eugène Massenez, son of the founder, innovated by distilling the precious wild raspberry for the first time. This exceptional product charmed the Queen of Sweden, establishing the prestigious Massenez Distillery as an official supplier to the Swedish royal court. Subsequently, Gabriel Eugène, representing the third generation, successfully expanded the house's image of excellence by collaborating closely with world-renowned starred chefs such as Paul Bocuse and with renowned gastronomic establishments like La Tour d’Argent, a symbol of French haute cuisine.
In response to remarkable international growth, a new modern distillery was inaugurated in 1979, enhancing production capacity while preserving traditional know-how. Today, the Massenez brand is present in more than 110 countries, attesting to its global success and the diversity of its range of superior quality spirits. In 2010, a strategic partnership was formed with the Grandes Distilleries Peureux, known notably for their famous Griottines. Under the presidency of Bernard Baud, this alliance brings new innovative momentum to the Massenez Distillery while respecting the unique DNA and heritage of the house.
The Poire Prisonnière is the very emblem of Massenez's expertise and excellence in eaux-de-vie. Each bottle is positioned directly on the blossoming pear tree at the beginning of spring, allowing the fruit to develop and ripen naturally inside the bottle. This unique artisanal process offers a rare product, where the pear and bottle are carefully separated at maturity, ensuring a delicate and authentic tasting experience, highly praised by connoisseurs of exceptional eaux-de-vie.
