RHUM HSE - Aged Rum - Single Cask - Vintage 2003 - 47.8% ABV
The La Maugée estate, renamed Saint-Etienne in 1863, is an iconic distillery in Martinique that evolved from a simple sugar factory into a major player in the production of exceptional rum. In 1882, its acquisition by Amédée Aubery, a young visionary entrepreneur, marked a turning point: he undertook the modernization of the facilities and utilized the Lézarde river, which still runs through the estate, to supply sustainable energy to the installations and carefully dilute the cane juices. In 1994, the prestigious Hayot family (Yves and José) acquired the property after judicial recovery, then engaged in extensive renovation work on this Martinican estate classified as a Historic Monument. The emblematic distillation column was transferred to Simon, consolidating the artisanal tradition. The Saint-Etienne brand was then renamed HSE (Habitation Saint-Etienne), now recognized for its high-end rums, true gems of the Martinican terroir.
This exceptional rum from the 2003 vintage was distilled and put into aging in 2003 before bottling in 2018, ensuring optimal maturity and a unique aromatic richness.
