RHUM DEPAZ - Aged - Grande Réserve XO - 45%
The prestigious Depaz distillery traces its origins to the heart of the La Montagne estate, located in Saint-Pierre at the foot of the majestic Montagne Pelée, founded in 1651 by Jacques Duparquet, the first governor of the island of Martinique. The Depaz house pays a vibrant tribute to Victor Depaz, heir of a family emblematic of local rum production. In 1902, during the devastating eruption of Montagne Pelée, almost his entire family perished, except Victor, who was then a student in Bordeaux. Orphaned upon his return, he revived the Habitation Périnelle from its ashes fifteen years later, meticulously reconstructing the estate in its original architecture, symbolizing a deeply rooted ancestral tradition.
Recognized worldwide, Depaz rum owes its unique character to the exceptional richness of its volcanic terroir, carefully selected sugar canes, and remarkably pure water. This traditional distillery, one of the smallest in Martinique, preserves its authenticity by continuing to operate its production heart with an old steam engine, a true testament to artisanal know-how.
This aged Grande Réserve XO rum is enhanced by a harmonious blend of rums aged between 8 and 10 years, offering a refined tasting experience worthy of a prestigious digestif.
Renowned for its excellence, this Depaz rum won the gold medal in 2016 at the Paris General Agricultural Competition, attesting to its superior quality and undisputed prestige.
