LA FAVORITE - Cœur de Canne ESB - Aged Under Wood - 45%
La Favorite is one of the last iconic independent distilleries of Martinique, alongside Neisson. Founded in 1842 on the remains of an old sugar factory called Les Jambettes, it took the name La Favorite in 1851. In 1909, following its acquisition by Henri Dormoy, significant modernization work transformed the sugar factory into a true distillery. After a period of closure in the 1938s, linked to personal upheavals around Albert Dormoy, Henri's son, La Favorite was completely renovated in 1956 by André Dormoy, Henri's younger brother, allowing production to restart while respecting traditions.
Today, La Favorite cultivates sugarcane over an area of 60 hectares and also sources from committed small local producers, guaranteeing exceptional quality and a unique terroir. The distillery still operates using a historic steam engine dating from 1906, a symbol of ancestral know-how. The vesou (cane wine), obtained by a long fermentation of cane juice up to 72 hours, is then distilled in two Creole columns, one entirely made of copper and in service since 1957, and a second, more modern, dating from 1986, ensuring perfect extraction of the typical aromas of Martinican rum.
La Favorite Cœur de Canne ESB is a prestigious selection of white rum, carefully aged for at least 12 months in oak barrels and casks, which gives it a unique aromatic complexity and remarkable richness on the palate, ideal for lovers of exceptional rums.
