SAVANNA - Grand Arôme Lontan 57.5 - Batch L.07.22 - 57.5%
The Savanna Distillery is ideally located on the Island of Réunion, an exceptional terroir for the production of agricultural rum. Founded and designed by Emile Hugot between 1948 and 1950, this historic distillery based in Saint-Paul was originally attached to the sugar factory of the same name. In 1982, the Savanna Distillery innovated by acquiring a distillation workshop dedicated exclusively to the production of light rum intended for export, thus fulfilling a major contract signed with a leading German market player. This development marked a crucial technological and qualitative turning point for the distillery, which has since diversified and improved the exceptional quality of its rums. Today, the Savanna Distillery exports the majority of its production to demanding professionals worldwide.
Like many great artisanal distilleries, the Savanna Distillery uses a discontinuous fermentation process, also called the "mother vat" process, which consists of 8 fermentation vats of 100 m3<\/sup> each, accompanied by a series of satellite fermenters. This rigorous method guarantees a final product of great organoleptic quality and rich in aromas.
The Lontan 57.5 Rum comes from a slow and controlled fermentation of molasses derived from Bois Rouge sugar cane, carefully fermented for 6 days then distilled in a traditional copper column. It is distinguished by a high ester content, reaching 610 g\/hLPA, giving the rum its complex, powerful, and aromatic character.
