The Neisson Distillery, located in the heart of Carbet in Martinique, is an iconic reference in the world of exceptional organic agricultural rums. Founded in 1932 by the Neisson brothers, this family distillery follows a traditional artisanal approach combining ancestral know-how and innovation. Jean Neisson, a passionate chemical engineer, dedicated his career to perfecting distillation methods, thus establishing high and unique quality standards. Today, his heirs, Claudine and then her son Grégory, continue this commitment by rigorously pursuing the family approach.
Since 2013, the shift towards environmentally respectful organic farming has become a priority for Neisson, culminating in 2016 with the release of the first organic rum benefiting from the Martinique Controlled Designation of Origin (AOC), a true benchmark for premium rum enthusiasts. More than 40 hectares of farmland have gradually adopted this sustainable approach, favoring biodiversity, soil, and crop quality.
The distillery has also developed unique expertise by using its own strains of indigenous yeasts, meticulously selected from yeasts naturally present on sugar canes, thus guaranteeing the authenticity and unparalleled aromatic richness of its rums. Thanks to a well-informed choice of crop varieties adapted to each plot and controlled irrigation management promoting water savings, Neisson demonstrates its commitment to sustainable and responsible production. Moreover, an efficient effluent treatment system contributes to the environmental preservation of the lands.
