MONTEBELLO - Vintage 1984 - 42%
The Montebello rum is an exceptional agricole rum crafted by the renowned Carrère distillery located in Petit-Bourg in the heart of Guadeloupe. Known under the name Montebello distillery — the designation of its rums since 1975 — this distillery derives its identity from the eponymous district where it is established. Founded in 1930 by the Dolomie family, it preserves a traditional know-how passed down from generation to generation. Since December 2011, Grégory and Dominique Marsolle have ensured the continuity of this emblematic family business. In 2012, the distillery innovated by adopting an exemplary ecological approach, valorizing all the waste from sugarcane crushing. The dry bagasse, residue of the cane, is thus used as fuel to produce the steam necessary for the operation of the presses crushing the cane. To guarantee impeccable quality, Montebello selects only hand-harvested canes from the rich and fertile volcanic lands of Petit-Bourg, Goyave, Basse-Terre, Lamentin, and Sainte-Rose. A true conservatory of rum heritage, it is also one of the last distilleries in the Caribbean to operate historic steam machines, thus offering a rum with a unique and authentic character.
The red wax capsule of this bottle shows some signs of wear, however the internal aluminum capsule remains perfectly intact (see photo).
