The Longueteau family settled in Guadeloupe as early as 1766, but it was at the end of the 19th<\/sup> century that Louis-Philippe Henry Longueteau acquired part of the prestigious Marquisat de Sainte-Marie, put up for auction following the major crisis in the sugar industry. In 1895, he bought the iconic Habitation Espérance with the ambitious goal of transforming the estate from a simple sugar factory into an exceptional distillery. Today, it is François Longueteau who runs the House, the only Guadeloupean distillery where the owner is both a passionate farmer and a recognized master distiller.
Longueteau rums come exclusively from their own carefully cultivated sugarcane fields. The harvesting and crushing of the cane take place on the same day, at optimal full maturity, ensuring the freshness and quality of the juice. Fermentation lasts 48 hours without any chemical additives, thus preserving authenticity and aromatic richness. Distillation is carried out in a modern 28-plate Savalle column, symbolizing traditional know-how combined with cutting-edge technology.
The 2020 vintage constitutes batch No.4 of the prestigious Genesis collection. This exceptional white rum is made from the crushing and fermentation of the famous red canes (R579 variety) from the estate. Distilled at 73.8°, it benefits from a controlled aging of 24 months in stainless steel tanks, which gives it remarkable purity and aromatic intensity.
