The Neisson Distillery is located in Carbet, Martinique, a symbol of excellence in the production of exceptional agricultural rum. Founded in 1932 by the Neisson brothers, this family distillery has preserved a unique know-how passed down from generation to generation. Jean Neisson, a chemical engineer by training, dedicated his entire career to optimizing artisanal distillation techniques, thus ensuring unparalleled quality. Today, his descendants Claudine and then her son Grégory continue this quest for excellence with passion and rigor.
Since 2013, Neisson has begun a major transition towards certified organic farming, a sustainable approach aimed at protecting the environment and local biodiversity. In 2016, the distillery launched its first organic AOC Martinique rum, meeting the expectations of the most demanding consumers concerned with ecological quality. Gradually, more than 40 hectares of farmland have been fully converted to this respectful agriculture, ensuring a perfect balance between agricultural tradition and ecological innovations.
After several years of in-depth research, Neisson relies on its own strains of indigenous yeasts, meticulously selected from those naturally present on sugar canes. This innovative choice allows controlled fermentation, fully enhancing the authentic aromas of the Martinique terroir. The rigorous selection of cane varieties, adapted to the specificity of each plot, is complemented by optimized irrigation management, promoting substantial water savings. The effective treatment of agricultural effluents completes this system, thus illustrating a strong commitment to a sustainable agricultural rum respectful of the unique Neisson ecosystem.
