Rivière des Créoles - Old Rum - Vintage 2016 - Single Cask - 49.2%
Rivière des Créoles is a unique collaboration between Stéphane L’Éveillé, a passionate native of Mauritius, and the prestigious Saint Aubin Distillery. Located in the iconic Savanne region on the island of Mauritius, the Saint Aubin estate includes a majestic 19th-century colonial mansion, a renowned vanilla plantation, a greenhouse housing exotic tropical flowers, as well as a craft rum distillery at the forefront of expertise. The cultivation of sugar cane on this historic estate dates back to 1819, illustrating a rich and authentic agricultural and distilling heritage.
This exceptional old rum is made from R-579 cane varieties, carefully selected for their unique quality. It is then distilled in a pot still, guaranteeing remarkable aromatic finesse, in 2016. Aging is one of its major features: 4 years in ex-Cognac casks which impart woody and fruity notes, followed by 2 years in ex-Bourbon casks that offer vanilla and spicy aromas. This meticulous process gives birth to a complex and balanced rum. A limited edition of 366 numbered bottles was produced, making this vintage a true treasure to discover and collect.
