LA FAVORITE - The Authentic - White Rum - 50%
La Favorite is one of the last iconic independent distilleries of Martinique, alongside Neisson, recognized for its traditional know-how and unique heritage. Founded in 1842 on the ruins of an old sugar factory called Les Jambettes, the distillery was renamed La Favorite in 1851. In 1909, Henri Dormoy acquired the estate and undertook essential work to transform this old sugar factory into a modern distillery, while preserving artisanal methods. After a halt due to events related to Albert Dormoy, a gambling enthusiast, activity stopped in 1938. It was only in 1956 that André Dormoy, his younger brother, revived the distillery by carrying out a complete renovation, thus continuing the family tradition and exceptional quality.
Today, La Favorite cultivates sugar cane on about 60 hectares of land and supplements its supply with small local producers, ensuring an authentic product respectful of the Martinican terroir. The distillery still operates entirely thanks to a century-old steam engine, built in 1906, symbolizing a living industrial heritage. The vesou, or cane wine, is obtained after a long fermentation of the cane juice, up to 72 hours, allowing refined aromas to develop. Distillation is carried out in two distinct Creole columns: one copper column dating from 1957, entirely traditional, and a more modern one installed in 1986, allowing optimal extraction of flavors for an exceptional white rum, rich and powerful.
