Habitation Clément is ideally located in François, Martinique, the emblematic heart of exceptional agricultural rum production. Founded in 1887 by Homère Clément, this historic distillery was born in a difficult economic context marked by a major sugar crisis. Visionary and popular mayor of François, Homère Clément acquired at that time the prestigious sugar plantation known as Domaine de l’Acajou. This 43-acre property was recognized as one of the best sugar plantations on the island of Martinique.
Despite the economic difficulties related to the sugar industry, Homère Clément managed to transform this plantation into a true cradle of world-renowned Agricultural Rum. With an innovative strategy, he revitalized the cultivation of sugar cane to produce not refined sugar, but a first-quality pressed cane juice, rich in subtle and authentic aromas. His distillation method draws inspiration from the great eaux-de-vie he discovered during his studies in Paris, particularly inspired by the techniques of Armagnac distillers in southwestern France. This unique know-how shaped the distinctive style of Clément agricultural rum, recognized for its purity and aromatic depth.
After the death of Charles Clément, the house passed into the hands of George-Louis and Jean-José Clément, before being bought by the GBH group in 1986, which remains its owner today. The historic distillery, now transformed into a museum, retains all its prestige while the production of Clément rum is carried out at the Distillerie du Simon, very close to François, with careful aging in the famous Clément cellars, guaranteeing the authenticity and exceptional quality of each bottle.
This limited edition of Clément White Rum is made exclusively from Blue Cane, a rare and aromatic variety, carefully harvested in 2023. This exceptional rum, at 50% alcohol, expresses all the richness and freshness of this unique vintage, offering enthusiasts an incomparable sensory experience.
