BIELLE - Cask Strength 2016 - Bottled 2023 - 54.2%
The Bielle distillery, emblematic of the Antilles archipelago, is located on the magnificent island of Marie-Galante, renowned for its fertile lands and rich agricultural heritage. Originally founded in 1769 by Jean-Pierre Bielle, who cultivated coffee there, the estate transformed in 1826 with the establishment of a 53-hectare refinery-sugar factory by his descendants. The production of artisanal rum within the estate truly began only at the beginning of the 20th<\/sup> century, thus perpetuating an ancestral local tradition. After a period of abandonment following World War II, the distillery was taken over in 1955 by Paul Rameaux, then in 1975, the expertise and vision of the SEDB (Société d’Exploitation de la Distillerie Bielle) allowed the Bielle distillery to be ranked among the most prestigious in the Antilles islands. The sugar cane, exclusively sourced from small local producers, is carefully harvested to guarantee quality and authenticity. The cane juice, extracted via two traditional mills, undergoes a meticulous 48-hour fermentation before being distilled in three stainless steel Savalle columns, ensuring remarkable purity and finesse.
This exceptional 7-year-old agricole rum is the result of a rigorous selection of ex-Bourbon casks and fine-grain oak barrels, chosen to optimize aromatic development. Distilled in 2016 with ancestral know-how, it is bottled cask strength in 2023 without any dilution, guaranteeing an authentic intensity and rich taste, ideal for lovers of powerful and complex rum.
