Whisky MICHEL COUVREUR - Verry Sherried 25 Years - Limited Edition 2023 - 1998/2023 - 50%
The independent bottler Michel Couvreur is renowned for its unique expertise in the world of artisanal whisky. Originally a producer and merchant of Burgundy wine, Michel Couvreur became passionate about whisky in 1978, distilling for the first time at the famous Edradour distillery in 1986. Aspiring to own his own distillery in Scotland, he ultimately chose, with the support of his family, to settle in Bouze-Lès-Beaune, a strategic location halfway between Scotland and Andalusia. It is here that he revolutionized whisky maturation, focusing mainly on aging in Sherry and Port casks, giving his creations rich and complex aromas. His very diverse range of whiskies is the result of meticulous blending work, rigorous selection of rare casks, and innovative technical experiments. Since his death in 2013, his legacy has been passionately continued by his son-in-law Cyril Deschamps and his wife Alexandra, who contribute to maintaining the excellence and authenticity of Michel Couvreur whiskies.
This prestigious edition was distilled in Scotland on June 16, 1998. The maturation took place in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks in the famous Burgundy cellars of Michel Couvreur, offering this whisky an exceptionally rich aromatic profile, marked by deep notes of dried fruits, dark chocolate, and soft spices. Bottled exactly 25 years later, on June 16, 2023, this rare vintage was limited to only 975 copies, making each bottle a treasure sought after by enthusiasts and collectors.
