Whisky MICHEL COUVREUR - The Unexpected III - French Single Cask - December 2012 - Bottled 2023 - 50%
The independent bottler Michel Couvreur is an essential reference in the world of prestigious whisky. Originally a renowned producer and merchant of Burgundy wines, Michel Couvreur turned to his passion for whisky in 1978. His first distillation took place in 1986 at the Edradour distillery in Scotland. Driven by a desire to create exceptional whiskies, he wanted to acquire a distillery in Scotland, but faced with his wife's opposition, the couple chose to settle in the heart of Burgundy, in Bouze-Lès-Beaune. This strategic location, halfway between Scotland and Andalusia, offers a unique terroir for the maturation and aging of whiskies, mainly in Sherry and Port casks, thus bringing rich and complex notes. The Michel Couvreur house stands out with a varied range of whiskies aged with precision and meticulous blending work, using innovative techniques and a rigorous selection of casks. Since Michel Couvreur's death in 2013, his son-in-law Cyril Deschamps and his wife Alexandra have continued his legacy by ensuring the quality and authenticity of each expression.
The Unexpected No.3 is an exceptional French whisky made exclusively from malted barley of the Vanessa variety, known for its superior quality and refined aromas. This rare cuvée was distilled in a traditional French still on December 1st, 2012. It then benefited from a slow and meticulous aging of over 10 years in Sherry casks in the heart of Burgundy, giving it a unique aromatic richness, with fruity, spicy notes and a subtle woody sweetness. Carefully bottled on February 23rd, 2023, this Single Cask is limited to only 2,500 bottles, making each bottle a true treasure for collectors and discerning enthusiasts. This rare whisky is a must-have for lovers of exceptional French spirits.
