Whisky MICHEL COUVREUR - ALBA Chapter II - Vintage 2002 - 18 years - Malaga Finish - 45.5%
The independent bottler Michel Couvreur is globally recognized for its unique artisanal expertise in the world of quality whisky. Originally a producer and merchant of Burgundy wines, Michel Couvreur developed a passion for whisky in 1978, then carried out his first distillation at the Edradour distillery in Scotland in 1986. Unable to acquire his own Scottish distillery, he established his maturation and finishing center in Bouze-Lès-Beaune, ideally located between Scotland and Andalusia, where he employs exceptional maturation techniques. He mainly works with Sherry and Port casks, offering his whiskies an incomparable aromatic complexity. The Michel Couvreur range stands out for its rigorous blending, meticulous selection of rare casks, and use of innovative methods, refining each expression with passion. Since Michel Couvreur's death in 2013, his son-in-law Cyril Deschamps and his wife Alexandra have continued this legacy of excellence and authenticity.
This edition of Alba was distilled in Ireland on February 21, 2002. This exceptional whiskey then benefited from unique aging in Malaga casks in Michel Couvreur's prestigious Burgundy cellars. Bottled at cask strength on June 30, 2021, this single malt reveals a rare aromatic depth and remarkable richness on the palate.
