TAKAMAKA - Le Clos Spiritueux Series No.1 - Vintage 2016 - New Czech Oak Single Cask - 60%
Takamaka is a renowned artisanal distillery located in La Plaine Saint-André, on the beautiful east coast of Mahé in the Seychelles. Founded in 1792 by the Jorre de Saint Jorre family, La Plaine Saint-André was originally an exceptional agricultural estate, surrounded by lush tropical gardens. Spanning over 24 hectares at its peak, this historic estate played a major role in the agricultural economy of the Seychelles in the early 20th century, passionately cultivating cinnamon, vanilla, coconut, and patchouli for export to Europe. Over the centuries, La Plaine Saint-André hosted many activities, such as a coconut mill, a national monument, a ship repair yard, a royal garage, an eco-museum, a gourmet restaurant, and even an art gallery. Although partially destroyed by fire and sometimes neglected due to lack of funding, the site was meticulously restored thanks to the determination of the Distillerie Trois Frères, which in 2008 obtained a 50-year lease and devoted two years to bringing this heritage gem back to life.
This exceptional limited edition is a traditional sugarcane rum from the Seychelles, precisely distilled in a pot still according to ancestral methods. It benefits from careful aging of 3 years and 3 months in a new oak barrel of 225 liters, specially selected from the best Czech production. This single cask aging guarantees a unique and deep aromatic richness, characteristic of great terroir rums. Only 321 exclusive bottles were released, making this 2016 vintage a rare treasure sought after by enthusiasts and collectors.
