Père Labat - Canne Jaune - 51%
The Père Labat is an iconic brand of agricultural rums from the paradisiacal island of Marie-Galante, renowned for the exceptional quality of its products. The prestigious history of this authentic distillery dates back to the 18th century, when Madame Poisson acquired the estate, then a simple sugar factory. At the beginning of the 20th century, under the visionary leadership of Monsieur Rameau, the estate was transformed thanks to the installation of a traditional still and a red copper Creole column, symbols of mastered artisanal distillation. These innovations allowed Domaine Poisson to evolve from a sugar factory to a renowned distillery. In homage to Père Labat, the pioneer of modern distillation techniques for fresh cane wine, the distillery named its creations "les rhums du Père Labat," exceptional agricultural rums synonymous with authenticity and finesse.
This exceptional, rare, and precious rum was meticulously crafted by master distiller Jean-Cédric Brot from a unique and ancestral variety of Canne Jaune. This long-forgotten variety was rediscovered in Marie-Galante thanks to historical research around Père Labat. The yellow cane is particularly fibrous, complex to cut and crush, resulting in extremely limited yields. However, this challenging character gives the extracted juice a rich concentration of natural sugars, offering an intense flavor and an incomparable aromatic profile. Production is therefore very exclusive, with only 3,500 bottles available, making this rum a rare treasure for enthusiasts and collectors.
