LA FAVORITE - Brut 2 columns - Harvest 2021 - 71.8%
La Favorite is one of the last iconic independent distilleries of Martinique, alongside Neisson. Founded in 1842 on the ruins of an old sugar factory called Les Jambettes, it took the name La Favorite in 1851. In 1909, Henri Dormoy acquired the estate and undertook significant improvements by transforming the sugar factory into a modern distillery. Despite a temporary halt in its activities in the late 1930s, due to financial troubles caused by Albert Dormoy's gambling addiction, Henri's son, the distillery was revived thanks to his younger brother André, who took over and completely renovated the site in 1956.
Today, La Favorite cultivates sugarcane over an area of 60 hectares while sourcing from small local producers committed to traditional and sustainable agriculture. The distillery still operates thanks to a historic steam engine dating back to 1906, symbolizing its unique ancestral know-how. The vesou (cane wine), made from a long-fermented cane juice (up to 72 hours), is distilled through 2 Creole columns specifically designed: one entirely made of copper, active since 1957, and the other more modern, in operation since 1986. This double column technique ensures exceptional quality and finesse for this exceptional agricole rum.
