Montebello - Old Rum - 8 years - Barrel Proof - Barreled in 2014 - Batch #1 - 47.9% ABV
The Montebello rum is an exceptional agricole rum crafted by the renowned Carrère distillery, located in Petit-Bourg in Guadeloupe. Known for its artisanal expertise, the Carrère distillery is also known as the Montebello distillery, the name of its rums since 1975, in tribute to the historic district where it is located. Founded in 1930 by the prestigious Dolomie family, this house continues a rich and authentic family tradition. Since December 2011, Grégory and Dominique Marsolle have ensured the continuity and innovation of this emblematic company. Committed to an eco-responsible approach, the distillery adopted in 2012 an innovative process to recycle all "waste" from sugarcane crushing. It valorizes dry bagasse, the fibrous residue of the cane, as an energy source to power the steam presses, thus making optimal and sustainable use of its resources. To guarantee unmatched quality, Montebello uses exclusively hand-harvested canes from the volcanic and fertile terroirs of Petit-Bourg, Goyave, Basse-Terre, Lamentin, and Sainte-Rose. This traditional method combined with the use of old steam machines gives this rum a unique character and rare typicity, making Montebello one of the last distilleries in the Caribbean to perpetuate these old techniques.
This remarkable old rum from Montebello was carefully barreled in August 2014 and benefited from an optimal aging of 8 years in American oak barrels. This slow and controlled maturation offers it complex aromas and exceptional gustatory richness. Bottled at its natural alcohol strength of 47.9% in July 2022, it is aimed at discerning enthusiasts seeking authenticity and finesse.
