RHUM HSE - Aged Rum - VO - 42%
HSE (Habitation Saint Etienne) is an iconic distillery in Martinique with a history dating back to 1863. Originally known as Habitation La Maugée, this estate was then a sugar factory in Martinique. In 1882, Amedée Aubery, a young visionary entrepreneur, transformed it into a distillery, modernizing the facilities and harnessing the natural power of the Lézarde river. This river still supplies the estate with essential hydraulic energy for diluting sugarcane juice, thus ensuring optimal rum quality.
In 1994, after the previous owners went through judicial recovery, Yves and José Hayot took over the distillery and undertook significant renovation work to preserve and enhance this Martinican gem. The property has also been classified as a Historical Monument, reflecting its rich heritage and cultural significance. Saint-Etienne rum is produced in a traditional Creole-style copper column still, originating from the renowned Simon distillery, located in François, the heart of agricultural rum production in Martinique.
This exceptional VO rum benefits from careful aging of more than 3 years in oak barrels, giving it a rich and balanced aromatic complexity, ideal for connoisseurs of refined aged rums.
