RHUM CLEMENT - White Rum - Blue Cane - Vintage 2022 - 50% ABV
Habitation Clément is located in the heart of Le François, in Martinique, a region worldwide renowned for the exceptional quality of its agricultural rums. Founded in 1887 by Homère Clément, this iconic rum distillery was born during the sugar crisis, when he visionaryly acquired the prestigious Domaine de l’Acajou. Spanning 43 acres, this estate is reputed as one of the best sugarcane plantations on the island, offering a unique terroir ideal for producing exceptional agricultural rum. Despite the economic difficulties linked to the decline of the sugar industry, Homère Clément reinvented himself by investing heavily to transform this plantation into an internationally renowned agricultural rum producer. His innovative goal was to extract first-quality sugarcane juice, pressed directly in its fields, thus guaranteeing a pure, aromatic, and flavorful rum, faithful to Martinican traditions but also inspired by his education in Paris. There, he discovered the great secrets of eaux-de-vie, particularly the distillers of Armagnac from the Southwest of France, a method he adapted to perfect the production of his authentic Agricultural Rum. After the death of Charles Clément, his legacy was taken over by George-Louis and Jean-José Clément, then acquired by the GBH group in 1986, the current owner. Today, the historic distillery has become a museum, while the production of Clément rum is transferred to the Distillerie du Simon, located a few kilometers away in Le François, where the rum is carefully distilled before being aged in the famous Clément cellars, known for their unique aging environment.
This limited edition of Clément White Rum is made exclusively from Blue Cane harvested in 2022, offering a rare vintage typically characteristic of the Martinican terroir.
