Papa Rouyo is an exceptional agricultural rum from Guadeloupe, a true jewel of the Caribbean islands. It pays sincere tribute to "Papa Rouyo," whose real name was Charles Albert Ruscade, a passionate farmer's son who worked the land with rigor, expertise, and dedication. At Clos des Spiritueux, excellence is achieved through the enhancement of local agricultural heritage: the planters, called "maîtres-canniers" (master cane growers), work in perfect synergy with the producers, forming an essential and collective link in the creation of an exceptional terroir rum. This harmonious collaboration aims to promote traditional know-how to ensure authentic production that respects the environment and the Guadeloupean terroir.
As part of an eco-responsible approach focused on respect for the land and the sustainable improvement of soil quality, the maîtres-canniers favor traditional cultivation methods, notably the cutting of long cane, to preserve all the organoleptic richness of the raw material. The canes are then quickly transported to the mill to be immediately crushed, an essential guarantee of freshness and maximum quality before distillation. The latter is carried out in pot stills, then the rum is carefully placed in vats or barrels in the distillery's cellars located in Goyave, thus offering a perfect balance between tradition and modern expertise.
Vwayaj is made from B80.689 canes distilled in 2022 using a controlled traditional pot still process. It is delicately diluted with the pure and crystalline spring water of Saint-Claude, which gives it a unique purity and expressive aromatic richness. This 2022 vintage from Clos des Spiritueux stands out for its subtle balance, generous notes, and faithful expression of the Guadeloupean terroir, making this agricultural rum a must-have for enthusiasts seeking authenticity and superior quality.
