Manutea is a prestigious brand of artisanal rums crafted in Tahiti, French Polynesia, renowned for its exceptional expertise and environmentally respectful traditional methods. Founded in 1984, Manutea Tahiti offers unique eaux-de-vie made from pineapple, ginger, and orange, produced on the same site as the famous Jus de Fruits de Moorea company. The local sugarcane, an exclusive variety called O'Tahiti, is carefully cultivated at Domaine Pari Pari on the island of Tahaa as well as in the emblematic Hotu Fenua plots of Moorea.
Each harvest is done manually to ensure optimal quality. The freshly cut cane is crushed the same day on site, without adding water, to preserve the purity of the vesou used for fermentation. Transported by traditional schooners of the Leeward Islands (Raromatai), the vesou arrives at the Manutea Tahiti distillery, nestled at the majestic foot of Mount Rotui, between Cook and Opunohu bays on Moorea.
Distillation takes place in a copper still, guaranteeing the finesse and aromatic richness of the rum. Then, the rum is carefully aged and reduced to develop its unique flavors and perfect balance.
This exceptional aged rum is matured for a minimum of 3 years in carefully selected barrels that previously contained natural sweet Banyuls wine, imparting delicate and complex notes of ripe fruits, mild spices, and a beautiful roundness on the palate.
