RHUM LONGUETEAU - Opéra - Batch n°1 - 46.4% ABV
The prestigious Longueteau family settled in Guadeloupe as early as 1766, embodying a long agricultural and artisanal tradition. It was only at the end of the 19th century that Louis-Philippe Henry Longueteau acquired part of the legendary Marquisat de Sainte-Marie, auctioned off following the major crisis in the sugar industry. In 1895, he bought the illustrious Habitation Espérance to transform this historic estate from a sugar factory into an exceptional distillery. Today, it is François Longueteau who carries on this unique expertise, being both owner, passionate farmer, and master distiller of the only authentic family distillery in Guadeloupe.
The Longueteau rums are 100% made from sugarcane grown on their lands, guaranteeing unique quality and terroir. The canes are harvested at full maturity the same day, then carefully crushed to preserve all natural flavors. The long 48-hour fermentation, without any additives, fully expresses the aromas. Distillation is then carried out in a traditional 28-plate Savalle column, ensuring an exceptional, refined, and balanced rum.
Opéra Batch 1 is the brand-new edition in the Harmonie range, ideally complementing the Prélude, Concerto, and Symphonie editions. This exceptional blend consists of red cane (65%) and blue cane (35%), two carefully selected noble varieties, rested for 8 months in stainless steel tanks after distillation to refine their texture. The rum then undergoes remarkable aging of 8 years in 300-liter Cognac barrels, bringing complexity and elegance to this rare expression. Only a limited production of 1,400 bottles was made, making each bottle a true treasure for exceptional rum enthusiasts.
