The Neisson Distillery, emblematic of Martinican rum-making tradition, is located in the heart of Carbet in Martinique. Founded in 1932 by the Neisson brothers, this family distillery has successfully passed down its expertise through generations. Jean Neisson, a chemical engineer by training, dedicated his life to perfecting distillation techniques, thus ensuring exceptional quality in every edition. His descendants, Claudine and then her son Grégory, continue this passion with rigor and innovation. Since 2013, a major ecological shift has been initiated with the transition to certified organic farming. In 2016, Neisson introduced the first organic AOC Martinique rum, an important milestone for lovers of natural and authentic spirits. Today, more than 40 hectares of cultivated land follow this same sustainable commitment.
After several years of intensive research, the distillery now uses its own strains of indigenous yeasts, carefully selected from those naturally present on the surrounding sugar canes. This unique approach optimizes aromas and guarantees controlled fermentation. The thoughtful choice of crop varieties adapted to the specific typology of each plot allows better terroir expression. Furthermore, the rational management of irrigation promotes sustainable water savings, while the efficient treatment of effluents fully respects the local environment.
