BOLOGNE - Old Black Cane - 45%
The Bologne Distillery, located in Guadeloupe, is one of the oldest and most prestigious agricultural rum distilleries in the French Antilles, continuously operating since 1887. Its name comes from the former owners of the sugar factory founded on the fertile lands of the slopes of the La Soufrière volcano. Descended from a Protestant lineage, the Bologne family left their lands in France to migrate to Holland during the religious wars, before settling in Brazil, then a Dutch colony, in 1580, where they developed sugarcane cultivation. After being expelled from Brazil and then Martinique, the Bologne arrived in Guadeloupe in 1654, contributing to the growth of local sugar production. The Bologne sugar estate has endured many trials over the centuries, impacted by the region's tumultuous history and the French Revolution. Thanks to the vision of Louis Sargenton-Callarden in 1930, the estate specialized in the artisanal production of high-quality Agricultural Rum, recognized for its authenticity and unique character.
The Old Black Cane is an exceptional agricultural rum, made exclusively from black cane, a traditional variety known for its powerful and complex aromas. This rum is carefully aged between 3 and 6 years in old oak barrels that previously held Cognac, thus offering a deep aromatic richness and remarkable length on the palate. This aging method gives the rum a gentle complexity with woody, fruity, and spicy notes, ideal for both connoisseurs and novices wishing to discover the excellence of Guadeloupean rum.
