LA FAVORITE - White Rum - Heart of Cane - 1 Liter Edition - Vintage 2021 - 55%
La Favorite is one of the last iconic independent distilleries in Martinique, alongside Neisson. Founded in 1842 on the ruins of an old sugar factory called Les Jambettes, it was renamed La Favorite in 1851, symbolizing a rich agricultural and artisanal heritage. In 1909, Henri Dormoy acquired the establishment and initiated several major improvements to sustainably transform this sugar factory into a modern and efficient distillery. After a halt in activity due to internal troubles, notably Albert Dormoy's involvement in gambling, production ceased around 1938. However, it restarted under the impetus of André Dormoy in 1956, who undertook a complete renovation to revive the distillery.
Today, La Favorite cultivates about 60 hectares of sugar cane, while carefully sourcing from small local producers, prioritizing quality and tradition. The distillery operates with a century-old steam engine dating from 1906, thus preserving a unique and authentic know-how. The vesou (cane wine), resulting from a long fermentation that can last up to 72 hours of fresh cane juice, is distilled in two Creole columns: one entirely made of copper used since 1957, and the other, more recent, put into service in 1986, ensuring precise distillation respectful of the original aromas.
The La Favorite Cœur de Canne Blanc is the result of a meticulous blend of different sugar cane varieties from carefully selected plots, reflecting the richness and diversity of Martinique terroirs. Its long fermentation, coupled with distillation in Creole Column No. 1, gives this white rum an exceptional aromatic complexity. This exclusive edition is offered in a practical 1-liter format, ideal for enthusiasts wishing to discover the authenticity of a truly exceptional Martinican agricole rum.
