SAVANNA - 5 years old - Agricultural Rum - Single Cask No. 284 - Vintage 2005 - Bottled in 2012 - 46% ABV
The Savanna Distillery is located on the paradisiacal island of La Réunion, a unique terroir renowned for the quality of its agricultural rums. Founded and meticulously designed by Emile Hugot between 1948 and 1950, this iconic distillery, originally situated in Saint Paul, has evolved while remaining true to its authentic heritage. Attached to the sugar factory of the same name, it benefits from traditional know-how combined with constant technical innovations. In 1982, the Savanna Distillery acquired a distillation workshop dedicated exclusively to the production of light rum intended for export, after signing a major contract with a leading German client. This strategic turning point was the catalyst for significant technological development, allowing the distillery to diversify and improve the exceptional quality of its rums. Today, the Savanna Distillery exports the majority of its production to demanding and passionate professionals.
Like many exceptional rum producers, the Savanna Distillery uses a discontinuous fermentation, also called the "mother vat" process, with a system comprising 8 fermenters of 100 m3 each, accompanied by their satellite installations. This ancestral method guarantees superior quality by respecting the natural fermentation cycles, which gives the rums a unique aromatic complexity and finesse.
This 5-year-old Savanna rum is a true treasure from La Réunion, coming from a single cask (#284) distilled in 2005. Carefully aged in a Cognac barrel since April 5, 2007, it was selected with the utmost care in March 2012. This limited edition consists of only 840 numbered bottles, embodying the excellence and authenticity of an exceptional agricultural rum.
