LA FAVORITE - White Rum - Heart of Cane - 2021 Edition - 50%
La Favorite is one of the last iconic independent distilleries of Martinique, alongside Neisson. Founded in 1842 on the ruins of an old sugar factory called Les Jambettes, it was renamed La Favorite in 1851, thus embodying a unique historical and cultural heritage. In 1909, Henri Dormoy, the new owner, undertook significant improvements to transform this sugar factory into a renowned distillery. After a pause linked to Albert Dormoy's enthusiasm for gambling, La Favorite suspended its activity in the late 1930s, before being completely renovated and relaunched in 1956 by André, the younger brother.
Today, La Favorite cultivates sugar cane on 60 hectares, while also sourcing from small local producers, thus valuing the authentic Martinican terroir. The distillery still operates thanks to a historic steam engine, built in 1906, symbolizing a perpetuated traditional know-how. The vesou (cane juice), obtained after a long and controlled fermentation that can last up to 72 hours, is distilled in two Creole columns: one, entirely copper and operational since 1957, and the other more modern dating from 1986, guaranteeing exceptional quality and finesse.
La Favorite Heart of Cane White is the result of a meticulous blend of several sugar cane varieties from different carefully selected plots. Its long fermentation and distillation in the Creole Column No. 1 give this white rum an intense, complex, and delicate aromatic profile, perfectly reflecting Martinican excellence.
