HSE - Single Cask 2006 - Bottled in November 2021 - 47.8%
HSE (Habitation Saint Étienne), formerly known as Habitation La Maugée, is an iconic distillery in Martinique dating back to 1863. Originally a sugar plantation in Martinique, it was transformed into a distillery by Amédée Aubery in 1882. This industrial visionary modernized the facilities and harnessed the rivière Lézarde to power the estate, a natural resource still used today for diluting sugar cane juices, thus ensuring the authenticity and quality of HSE rum.
In 1994, following the judicial recovery of the former owners, Yves and José Hayot took over the property and initiated a large-scale renovation campaign to preserve this unique heritage. Classified as a Historic Monument, Habitation Saint Étienne continues the production tradition through a traditional Creole copper column distillation, originating from the famous Distillerie du Simon located in François (Martinique). This artisanal process gives the rum an unparalleled aromatic richness, highlighting its exceptional terroir.
HSE Single Cask 2006 is an exceptional extra-old rum, patiently aged in a single cask (FRA1810-3) selected for its subtle influence on the flavor profile. Put into aging on June 20, 2006, and bottled in November 2021, this rare expression offers an exclusive sensory experience thanks to its 15 years of maturation. Only 1,100 bottles were produced, making this rum a true treasure for enthusiasts and collectors.
