HSE - Clos des Spiritueux Finish - Vintage 2007 - Bottled April 2020 - 48%
HSE (Habitation Saint Etienne) has a rich history dating back to 1863, when it was known as Habitation La Maugée. Originally, it was an iconic sugar factory in Martinique, but in 1882, Amedée Aubery transformed the site into a renowned distillery after acquiring it. This enterprising young industrialist modernized the facilities and harnessed the hydraulic power of the Lézarde river, still used today to dilute sugarcane juices, demonstrating a unique expertise blending tradition and innovation.
In 1994, Yves and José Hayot took over the property following the judicial recovery of the previous operators. They invested in a thorough renovation of the estate, which was then classified as a Historic Monument, highlighting its heritage importance. Saint-Etienne rum is distilled in a traditional Creole copper column still from the renowned Simon distillery, located in François, Martinique, ensuring exceptional quality and authenticity.
HSE Clos des Spiritueux Vintage 2007 is an extra-old rum of great finesse, aged 11 years. It benefits from an exclusive 10-month finish in carefully selected oak barrels that previously held the prestigious Bordeaux wine from Clos des Spiritueux. This maturation imparts remarkable aromatic complexity to the rum, subtly marrying the powerful notes of aged rum with the elegant richness of wood and wine, ideal for connoisseurs seeking a unique and refined tasting experience.
