Montebello rum is an exceptional agricole rum crafted by the renowned Carrère distillery, located in Petit-Bourg, Guadeloupe. Also known as the Montebello distillery, this establishment owes its historic name to its location in the district of the same name since 1975, when it renamed its rums. Founded in 1930 by the prestigious Dolomie family, the distillery continues a family and artisanal tradition, now passionately carried on since December 2011 by Grégory and Dominique Marsolle. A pioneer in sustainable development, the Montebello distillery has implemented since 2012 an innovative process of complete recycling of residues from cane crushing, using dry bagasse as fuel to generate the steam that powers its presses, thus ensuring environmentally friendly production.
In the pursuit of purity and quality, the Montebello distillery exclusively selects hand-harvested sugarcane from the rich and fertile volcanic lands of Petit-Bourg, Goyave, Basse-Terre, Lamentin, and Sainte-Rose. A true guardian of traditional know-how, it is also one of the last distilleries in the Caribbean to use steam-powered machines, bringing an authentic and unique touch to the extraction of cane juices.
This agricole rum of rare longevity was barreled in October 2010 and patiently aged for 10 years, offering exceptional aromatic maturity before being bottled in July 2021.
