SAVANNA - 6 years old - Unshared Cask France - Traditional TH1 - Barrel proof - 55.9%
The Savanna Distillery is located on the island of Réunion, an exceptional terroir for the production of overseas agricultural rums. Created and designed by Emile Hugot between 1948 and 1950, it was originally situated in Saint-Paul and was an integral part of the sugar factory of the same name. In 1982, the Savanna Distillery acquired a distillation workshop dedicated exclusively to the production of light rum intended for export, following the signing of a major contract with a significant German client, a market leader. This acquisition was a true catalyst for the technological development of the distillery, allowing from that moment a notable diversification and a significant increase in the quality of its rums. Today, the Savanna Distillery exports the majority of its production to demanding professionals around the world.
Like many exceptional rum distilleries, the Savanna Distillery uses a discontinuous fermentation process, also called the "mother tank" process, composed of 8 fermenters each with a capacity of 100 m3<\/sup>, accompanied by several satellite tanks. This discontinuous fermentation method guarantees the production of high-quality rums, rich in aromas and complexity.
This 6-year-old Savanna is an exceptional traditional aged rum from Réunion. This unique cask (#714) was rigorously selected on May 11, 2021, on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of La Maison du Whisky. The rum aged in a humid cellar, under a tropical climate, in barrels that previously contained Cognac, imparting to this spirit elegant, fruity, and woody notes, perfectly balanced. A rare edition, signed by Clos des Spiritueux, which will delight connoisseurs of high-end aged rums seeking authenticity and character.
