LA FAVORITE - Cœur de Canne Vieux - 4 years - 42% ABV
La Favorite is one of the last iconic independent distilleries of Martinique, alongside Neisson, a true institution of agricole rum. Founded in 1842 on the remains of an old sugar factory called Les Jambettes, it was renamed "La Favorite" in 1851. In 1909, under the direction of Henri Dormoy, a major transformation of the sugar factory into a modern distillery began, marking the start of a new era for this house. Despite a halt in activity in 1938 caused by controversies related to Albert Dormoy's gambling enthusiasm, Henri's son, La Favorite was revived in 1956 thanks to André Dormoy, who undertook a complete renovation, thus ensuring the distillery's longevity.
Today, La Favorite passionately cultivates sugarcane on over 60 hectares and works closely with many small local producers, fostering a unique and authentic terroir. The distillery still operates using a century-old steam engine, built in 1906, symbolizing preserved artisanal know-how. The vesou, the famous fermented cane juice fermented for up to 72 hours, is carefully distilled in two Copper Creole columns, one dating from 1957 and the other, more modern, installed in 1986, ensuring unmatched finesse and aromatic richness.
La Favorite Cœur de Canne is an exceptional aged rum, matured under wood for 4 years, offering a perfect balance of roundness, complexity, and elegance, ideal for lovers of high-end agricole rums.
Clos des Spiritueux is proud to offer you this authentic and historically rich Martinican gem, symbolizing unmatched tradition and quality in the world of rum.
