Tatanka is a recognized artisanal company from Martinique, specializing in creating unique and authentic hand-painted artworks on various surfaces. Since 1996, a talented Martinican artist has been painting directly by hand on glass, in a style of traditional naive art, depicting scenes of life, history, and the know-how of the Neisson distillery. Each bottle thus becomes a true vibrant tribute to the work and passion of the men and women involved in producing Neisson's exceptional agricole rums. For each special limited edition, three original illustrations are offered, highlighting the cultural and artisanal identity of Martinique.
The Neisson Distillery, located in the heart of Le Carbet in Martinique, has been an emblematic player since its creation in 1932 by the Neisson brothers. Jean Neisson, a chemical engineer by training, dedicated his life to perfecting the traditional distillation processes of agricole rum. Today, his heirs, Claudine and then her son Grégory, continue this family tradition with passion and rigor. Since 2013, Neisson has committed to an exemplary approach of certified organic farming. In 2016, the distillery launched its very first organic rum labeled AOC Martinique, a major innovation that highlighted its commitment to an environmentally respectful product and terroirs.
The cultivation of sugarcane takes place on more than 40 hectares of land meticulously maintained according to eco-responsible methods. Neisson makes a reasoned choice of cane varieties adapted to each plot for optimal balance, controls irrigation with rigorous water savings, and implements an efficient ecological treatment of agricultural effluents. After five years of in-depth research, Neisson now uses its own strains of natural indigenous yeasts, selected for their exceptional qualities and unique adaptation to the local terroir. All these efforts contribute to producing excellent agricole rums, in perfect harmony with the preserved ecosystem of the Neisson lands, offering authentic aromas and remarkable purity.
This vintage edition 2013, bottled for Habitation Velier, bears the evocative name "L'Amareuse".
