RHUM LONGUETEAU - White Rum - GENESIS - Column Still - Batch No. 3 - Vintage 2017 - 72.7% ABV
The prestigious Longueteau family settled in Guadeloupe as early as 1766, establishing a unique agricultural and artisanal tradition. It was only at the end of the 19th century that Louis-Philippe Henry Longueteau acquired part of the renowned Marquisat de Sainte-Marie during an auction triggered by the major crisis in the sugar industry. In 1895, he purchased the Habitation Espérance, transforming this historic estate from a simple sugar mill into an exceptional distillery. Today, passionate heir François Longueteau leads the House with a respectful and authentic approach. It is the only distillery in Guadeloupe where the owner is both farmer and master distiller, ensuring rare expertise and unparalleled quality.
Longueteau rums are exclusively made from sugarcane grown on their own lands, a true promise of terroir. The canes are harvested at full maturity and crushed the same day to preserve all their freshness and unique aromas. Natural fermentation lasts 48 hours, without any additives or inputs, to best respect the purity of the juice. Distillation is carried out in a modern Savalle column still equipped with 28 plates, guaranteeing precision and finesse in every drop.
This 2017 vintage (Batch 3) comes exclusively from the crushing and fermentation of the prestigious red canes (R579) grown on the estate. Distilled at a powerful strength of 72.7%, this white rum was aged for 24 months in stainless steel tanks, thus preserving all its aromatic richness. It is then bottled at its natural strength, a Brut de colonne, offering a pure and intense expression of the Guadeloupean terroir.
