Montebello rum is an exceptional agricole rum produced by the prestigious Carrère distillery located in Petit-Bourg, Guadeloupe, an island renowned for its unique expertise in producing authentic agricole rums. The Carrère distillery, also known as the Montebello distillery, takes its name from the neighborhood where it is situated and continues a tradition dating back to 1930, the year it was founded by the Dolomie family. Since December 2011, management has been led by Grégory and Dominique Marsolle, dedicated to preserving the family heritage and sustainable innovation.

Committed to advanced ecological practices, the distillery has, since 2012, fully recycled the by-products from sugarcane crushing. It uses dry bagasse, the natural residue of the cane, as green fuel to produce the steam necessary for operating the presses. This eco-responsible method ensures environmentally friendly production and fully valorizes the richness of the cane.

The uniqueness of the Montebello distillery also lies in its meticulous harvesting of hand-picked canes, sourced exclusively from the fertile volcanic soils of Petit-Bourg, Goyave, Basse-Terre, Lamentin, and Sainte-Rose. This unique terroir imparts the rum with a remarkably fine aromatic profile. Additionally, Montebello is one of the last distilleries in the Caribbean to operate traditional steam machines, a perfect blend of authenticity and artisanal know-how.

The Zenga cuvée pays tribute to the Zenga rooster, a strong symbol of the local tradition of fighting roosters. This white agricole rum was distilled in January 2019, benefiting from a long, controlled blending that develops its aromatic intensity. It was then reduced to an ideal strength of 60% in October 2020, offering a perfect balance for lovers of powerful and refined rums.
