BIELLE - Broken Knee White - 59%
\nThe Bielle distillery is located in the heart of the paradisiacal island of Marie-Galante, nestled in the French Antilles. Founded in 1769 by Jean-Pierre Bielle, originally a coffee grower, the estate gradually specialized in rum production. In 1826, Jean-Pierre's descendants established a refinery and sugar factory on 53 hectares, laying the foundations of a strong local tradition. Rum production on the estate truly began at the start of the 20th century, enhancing the authenticity and quality of spirits from this land. After being abandoned post-World War II, the distillery was bought in 1955 by Paul Rameaux, before a significant revival in 1975 under the aegis of the SEDB (Société d’Exploitation de la Distillerie Bielle). Today, the Bielle distillery stands as one of the most prestigious in the Antilles, proudly recognized for its traditional know-how and artisanal methods. The sugarcane used comes exclusively from small local producers, ensuring optimal quality and respectful work of the terroir. The cane juice, extracted using two steam mills, is carefully fermented for 48 hours before being precisely distilled using three stainless steel Savalle columns, a symbol of excellence and modernity.
\nThis exceptional edition is made from a unique local variety of sugarcane, the broken knee cane, giving the rum a distinctive aromatic profile, a gourmet finesse, and an identity deeply rooted in Martinican heritage.
