RHUM LONGUETEAU - GENESIS VIEUX - Column Still - Batch No. 1 - Vintage 2016 - 71.7%
The Longueteau family settled in Guadeloupe as early as 1766, but it was truly at the end of the 19th century that Louis-Philippe Henry Longueteau acquired a strategic part of the Marquisate of Sainte-Marie, put up for auction following the major crisis in the sugar industry. In 1895, he revolutionized the estate by purchasing the Habitation Espérance, transforming what was a simple sugar mill into an innovative and renowned distillery. Today, under the passionate leadership of François Longueteau, the Longueteau House remains the only distillery in Guadeloupe where the owner assumes both the roles of farmer and master distiller, ensuring total control over the production chain.
Longueteau rums come exclusively from sugarcane grown on their own lands. The canes are harvested and immediately crushed at full maturity on the same day to preserve all the aromatic richness. Natural fermentation lasts 48 hours, without any chemical additives, thus ensuring unparalleled purity and authenticity. This fermentation is followed by rigorous distillation in a 28-plate Savalle column still, a symbol of excellence and ancestral know-how.
The 2016 vintage, emblematic of the Genesis range, comes exclusively from the red canes (R579 variety) of the estate. Distilled at a powerful strength of 71.7%, this exceptional rum has patiently aged for 24 months in French oak barrels, imparting balanced woody notes and remarkable complexity. It is then bottled at its natural strength, characteristic of Column Still and Barrel Proof, to offer an authentic and refined tasting experience, perfect for connoisseurs and lovers of exceptional rums.
