Coming from a family established in the Antilles since 1964, Chantal Comte developed a passion for the world of rum, a craft she honed thanks to the expertise of two renowned master distillers, André Depaz and Paul Hayot. Former owner of the prestigious Domaine du Château de la Tuilerie in Nîmes and an accomplished winemaker, she has fully dedicated herself to her unique role as a selector of exceptional rums since 1983. Inspired by André Depaz, owner of the famous Plantation de la Montagne Pelée, she created an innovative profession in the rum world, formerly reserved for whisky under the name "whisky blender and bottler." Today, Chantal Comte rigorously selects and distributes the most prestigious reserves of agricultural rums from the Antilles. Her cuvées, offered as barrel proof, blends, or vintage editions, embody the "quintessence of the aromas of great rums" according to Alain Ducasse, asserting their distinctive character in the world of premium luxury spirits.
This Cuvée Caribaea is an exceptional aged agricultural rum VO, selected and bottled by Chantal Comte in the renowned cellars of HSE (Habitation Saint-Étienne). This aged rum comes from a precious blend of vintage 2017-09 barrels, made from American oak ex-Bourbon "Premium Spirit char 4" barrels, ensuring optimal aging and a unique aromatic richness. Distilled carefully on June 8, 2017, this rum then aged slowly in barrels until October 9, 2017, for a complete maturation of 4 years. Bottling took place on May 5, 2021, with a limited production of only 1,600 numbered bottles, thus ensuring the exclusivity and rarity of this treasure from the Antilles.
