The Dillon Distillery, emblematic of Martinique, is a major player in the world of agricole rum. The passionate team expertly manages several essential trades, ranging from agriculture to distillation, including bottling and marketing, covering several strategic locations: in Saint-Pierre, at the foot of the majestic Montagne Pelée, in Basse-Pointe on the Atlantic coast, and in the dynamic city of Fort-de-France. Founded on a rich history dating back to 1779 with the arrival of the Dillon regiment in Martinique, the rum distillery, built in 1869, has withstood the test of time, including the devastation caused by a cyclone in 1891. The current buildings, true witnesses of Martinican heritage, were rebuilt in 1928 under the leadership of Raphaël Domergue. Since 1967, the distillery has been part of the famous Bardinet group, and in 1996 obtained the controlled designation of origin (AOC) "Rhum de la Martinique," a guarantee of authenticity and quality. Faithful to its principles, the distillery produces exclusively agricole rums, made only from the distillation of fermented sugarcane juice, reflecting the terroir and local expertise. Committed to a sustainable development approach, the Dillon Distillery bans the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, promotes irrigation using distillation residues to obtain pure water, and integrates green technologies such as photovoltaic panels and methane production converted into electricity, thus contributing to a reduced and responsible environmental impact.
